Marcos, Anastaios C.; Bahr, Stephen J. – Youth and Society, 1988
Tested the application of a revised version on Hirschi's (1969) social bond model on the drug use patterns of 2,626 high school students. The revised model, which accounted for more of the use variance than the original model, reveals that the best direct predictors are belief and attachment. (BJV)

Sipila, Jorma – Youth and Society, 1985
Presents a model of deviant behavior at three levels: the community, the social network, and the individual. Also presents results of a study, conducted in Finland, of regional differences in deviant adolescent behavior. Reports that although the model proved incompatible with part of the empirical material, it was on the whole viable. (KH)

Free, Marvin D., Jr. – Youth and Society, 1993
Three models reflecting stages of substance abuse were tested using path analysis with subsamples of 626 to 850 subjects. Models indicate that measures of religiosity and religious conservatism help explain substance use. Results suggest that explanations of substance abuse can be enhanced through models using stage of drug involvement. (SLD)
