The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center has conducted workshops in instructional technology as they relate to the teaching of foreign language through individualization. The content and scope of the workshops on instructional technology and criterion-referenced instruction are discussed. (SW)

A systematized framework for second language training enables two separate government departments to cooperate in the execution of the program. Canada's Public Service Commission handles the design and conduct phases of the Basic English Course, for example, and the Canadian Forces handles the analysis, evaluation, and validation phases.
