Because family medicine residency programs have been in the forefront of nutrition instruction, a nationwide survey of these programs was conducted to examine the nature, staffing, and funding mechanisms for nutrition education. The study compared research activities of men and women from data obtained in a 1982-83 survey of 7,947 medical school faculty in departments of internal medicine.
