Reports responses of 205 students to a children's Bureau inquiry on teenage drug usage. Youth were asked how teenagers feel about use of various kinds of drugs, what makes some teenagers use drugs and keeps others from using them, and what adults should do about teenage drug usage. (NH)

The author contends that while certain kinds of groups can made a beneficial contribution to the fulfilling of overall human growth potential, there are types of behavioral problems, of which marijuana usage is one, for which structural looseness could potentially undo the sincerest of therapeutic efforts. Overall reported usage rates were relatively low. Marijuana was the most consumed drug. Greatest percentage of increase in the use of soft drugs occurred between 15 and 16; greater use was reported by respondents in higher socioeconomic schools. High correlations existed between the use of one drug with another. (Author)
