A world literature course for gifted and talented high school students is described. J. Renzulli's Enrichment Triad concepts form the basis of the model. The course begins with general exploration activities on the various cultural settings and genres in the literature of the world, and proceeds to the selection of specific novels and topics for both oral and written individual projects. Additional considerations in grading, quality in writing and basic teaching procedures are offered along with a bibliography of references and textbooks. The bulk of the document is composed of units in the world literature curriculum. The section on Unit I addresses such topics as western narrative and the history of ideas, the literature of the Near East, Asian literature and Native American Literature. The section on Unit II describes the nature of the oral and written independent projects. Among appended information are sample diagnostic essay tasks, a personal checklist for exposition, and an outline of American and English literature.
