Self-Directed Career Exploration Center.

This self-directed learning center is intended to serve as a resource upon which to develop and support a career education program. The center is organized into educational activities that have been designed to enhance the career education process, including development of self-awareness, decision making, career exploration, and job search skills. The following topics are covered in the individual units: assessing personal learning style, knowing alternatives after high school, understanding what can be done with college, deciding whether or not to attend college, marketing skills to obtain employment, conducting a successful job search, making the best possible first impression, and job shadowing for career exploration. Each unit contains some or all of the following: an introduction, lesson objectives, a lesson outline, definitions, explanations, one or more information sheets, discussion sheets, suggested activities, sample letters, activity worksheets, checklists, and lists of guidelines. A bibliography and directory of regional agencies administering the Education for Employment Delivery Systems Planning Grant program are included. (MN)
