Paufler, Noelle Angeline; Amrein-Beardsley, Audrey
AERA Online Paper Repository, Paper presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association (San Antonio, TX, Apr 27-May 1, 2017)
In response to the call for a unique subdiscipline, education informatics, "Inside the Academy" models the innovative use of technology to transmit educational research beyond academia. The website is a platform-based online educational historiography that chronicles and archives the personal and professional journeys of esteemed members of the education academy through engaging and inspiring video interviews. In this study, researchers conducted an in-depth qualitative analysis of the 21 honorees' interview data thus far interviewed. Analyses revealed increasing evidence that "Inside the Academy" is a useful research tool helping to expand interest in the profession, provide opportunities for educational researchers and scholars to engage the public, and promote access to research-based information about contemporary educational issues, policies, theories, and beliefs.
