Relationships between age at marriage, marital role performance, and marital satisfaction were investigated. Results show the existence of small positive associations between age at marriage and marital satisfaction, and performance. (Author)

The present study addressed the question of whether there would be any differences in altruism expressed by hospitalized mental patients and college students. There were no significant differences on the altruism scale between these two groups. In the devised situation the patients were significantly more altruistic. (Author)

The formation of a psychotherapy relationship was studied using self-reports of clients and therapists. Items designed as measures of a set of dimensions considered salient to the process of therapy were incorporated into client and therapist report forms. Family involvement is compared with friendship and neighboring to determine which has a greater impact upon the personal morale of the 409 elderly widows who were surveyed. Contact with family members, does little to elevate morale, while friendship-neighboring is clearly related to less loneliness and worry. (Author)

Survey findings indicate that the religious value structure of students does not change radically during their freshman year of college. Freshman students seem to be in a process of examining and clarifying their religious views, and some are exploring social opportunities rather than placing emphasis on religious practice. (Author)

Compared the attitudes toward physically disabled persons held by individuals at three educational levels who had personal contact vs no such contact with the disabled. Data analyses revealed a significant main effect for education. The higher their educational level, the more positive were the students' attitudes. (Author)

This paper presents an analysis of the qualitative aspects of kinship interaction among Japanese Americans in Honolulu. Based on semistructured interviews with 104 families, the findings indicate an increase in kinship solidarity with the third generation. The role of feedback in T-groups was studied. Results indicate that feedback increases as T-groups progress, feedback is more emotional and non-evaluative than cognitive in nature, positive and direct feedback to the leaders increases as the group develops, and specific feedback between members increases as groups progress.
