In lieu of the Curriculum and Instruction course, University of Hawaii education majors may serve as interns at Kailua High School's alternative program, Community Quest (CQ). The development and use of a bank of test items, utilizing the Rasch model in the calibration and scaling of these test items, is described. A study is reported that investigates the validity of written simulations designed to evaluate the problem-solving behavior of pharmacy students studying therapeutics. Medical student instructional costs were determined for a required third-year primary care clerkship based in an ambulatory care setting.
