Sutton, Geoffrey W.; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1982
Compared the derived mental age (MA) of the Stanford-Binet to the test age (TA) of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Revised) in 100 children. For subjects whose WISC-R scores fell within the TA table, the two were comparable. When extrapolated TAs were required, the scores were not comparable. (Author/JAC)

Naglieri, Jack A. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1982
Explored the relationship between the Revised Peabody Picture Vocabulary test (PPVT-R) and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) for a sample of 38 mentally retarded children. Found the PPVT-R correlated significantly with the WISC-R Verbal Performance and Full Scale IQ scores. (Author)

Wolfe, John R. – Journal of Human Resources, 1982
The effects of family income, parents' education, maternal employment, and family composition on the IQ scores of four- and seven-year-olds are estimated, using a sample of more than 3,000 children. The results suggest that childhood cognitive development plays a minor role in the intergenerational transmission of wealth. (Author/CT)

Bracken, Bruce A.; Prasse, David P. – Journal of School Psychology, 1981
Comparisons of the PPVT-R, the PPVT, and placement IQ tests were made with 114 educable mentally retarded students, 46 White, 44 Black, and 24 Hispanic. The PPVT and PPVT-R correlated for all groups, but neither the PPVT nor PPVT-R, correlated to a significant degree with the placement IQ tests. (Author/RC)

Vance, H. Booney; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1981
Compared the subtest and IQ scores obtained by learning disabled and retarded children and youth on the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Revised) after a two-year time interval. Stability coefficients were obtained. The evidence indicated the WISC-R provides stable full-scale IQs. (Author)

Ziegler, Mark E.; Doehrman, Steven – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1979
Analysis of correlations between Verbal and Full Scale IQ scores for 231 high-IQ psychiatric outpatients indicated that Verbal IQ appears partially valid as a WAIS short form for this higher IQ group. Results are interpreted in terms of Resnick and Entin's short form validity criteria. (Editor/SJL)

Gill, Peter Edward – Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research, 1976
Multiple regression is used to discover interconnections between IQ and vocabulary test scores as one variable, and socioeconomic factors as the other. Results show total variance as explained by predictors is never more than eight per cent, indicating differences in IQ scores are not attributable to environmental factors. (RW)

Stanovich, Keith E. – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1989
This commentary supports Linda Siegel's challenge to the learning disabilities field (in EC221505) to produce data indicating that dyslexic readers differ from other poor readers in their cognitive processing, educational prognosis, and response to treatment. The commentary also points out that the existence of Matthew effects reinforces Siegel's…
