A study of 8,422 child maltreatment cases involving Army families found the overall rate of child maltreatment was lower than in the general population and rates of neglect were markedly lower. A search was made of confidential health department records in Great Britain for abused children, or children at risk for abuse, with siblings who had died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
