The purpose of this research explored the perceptions and experiences of administrators/case managers who work in the Housing First Model, which assists homeless clients with substance abuse treatment. The problem that was addressed was that the Housing First Model administrators/case managers who assist the homeless population in seeking substance abuse treatment while they are homeless, are faced with many challenges in the process. Erikson's theory of psychosocial development was used for this study. There were two research questions for the study. What are the perceptions and experiences of Housing First Model administrators/case managers of their successes while assisting homeless clients into substance abuse treatment? What are the perceptions and experiences of Housing First Model administrators/case managers of their challenges while assisting homeless clients into substance abuse treatment? A qualitative methodology was utilized in this research study. A case study design was used to examine the perceptions and experiences of the administrators/case managers using the Housing First Model so that other administrators/case managers who do not use the Housing First Model can learn from their successes and challenges when assisting the homeless population in accessing substance abuse treatment. The data were obtained through semi-structured interviews and document review instruments. After data collection was completed, inductive analyses were applied. The results concluded with 10 themes. The principle suggestions of this research were that challenges and successes occur when administrators/case managers assist clients into substance abuse treatment. The recommendation for practice are to ensure that administrators/case managers are educated in the field, educated in harm reduction and that a place is created for clients to get all their needed paperwork in one place. The recommendations for research including exploring other ways to decrease the challenges in getting proper documentation, conducting a case study should be conducted to establish effective ways for administrators/case managers to be continuously trained and educated so that they overcome the challenges that they are faced with when assisting homeless clients, and evaluating the successes and challenges of administrators/case managers who are educated in the field and those who have no formal education.
