The School of Veterinary Medicine at Tuskegee Institute was established to serve the educational needs of Blacks in this profession, and represented the beginning of the third phase in the evolution of veterinary medical education in this country. At Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, training in preventive medicine is incorporated into all four years of the curriculum. The curriculum is described with focus on the fourth year practical course that involves problem solving, using various herds in the area. (JMD)

A five-year longitudinal study was designed to find the best predictors of academic success in veterinary school at Kansas State University and to set up a multiple regression formula to be used in selecting students. The preveterinary grade point average was found to be the best predictor. (JMD)

The effect of increased enrollment is considered on: the provision of individual attention to students, degree of course rigorousness, student evaluation, and test construction. Acceptance of veterinarians as typical adults and a knowledge of adult learning characteristics are need to maximize learning effectiveness for the casual as well as the eager learning participant. Twenty-five audiotutorial lessons in laboratory animal medicine were evaluated by students enrolled in courses at six schools of veterinary medicine.
