A study examined the role of meaning, familiarity with the task, and sex-stereotypic personality disposition in college students' success expectancy. It found no evidence for sex-related personality disposition to lower success expectancy, suggesting a need to examine how meaning and familiarity can affect college students' success. (MSE)

Investigates the relationship of personality and past film viewing experiences to preferences for different degrees of graphic horror in film, and for female versus male victimization. Finds that the Machiavellian trait of deceit, past exposure to horror films, and, for male subjects only, the enjoyment of pornography were good predictors. (SR)

Examined degree to which personality hardiness, career beliefs, self-efficacy, and occupational choice status related to career self-efficacy among 181 college juniors and seniors. The California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory was completed by 334 college students. Majors in English, psychology, and nursing scored highest. Nonpractice disciplines (English, history, psychology) generally scored higher than practice disciplines (nursing, education, business). Females scored higher on open-mindedness and maturity. (SK)
