Older (>24 years) or traditional age (<24 years) students (total n=199) who had received counseling at a comprehensive state university were surveyed. Findings indicated that the relationship (cohesion) between counselor and client was the most significant factor in a student's satisfaction with counseling regardless of age. (DB)

There was a statistically significant difference in measured behavioral changes of a group of helpees aided by counselors who scored high or low on Carkhuff measures. There seemed to be a direct correlation between desirable counseling processes and later positive outcomes, according to ratings on a behavioral scale. (Author)

Subjects' ratings of counselor charactristics were more positive for attractive than for unattractive counselors, regardless of subject or counselor race. Examined the effect of counselor attire on the perceptions of 30 students participating in a group counseling session. Administered a test of all-inclusive conceptualization (AIC) to 28 counseling practicum students who submitted audiotapes of counseling sessions which were rated on the level of empathic understanding. Factor analyzed the Counseling Orientation Preference Scale (COS) to investigate its validity. Data from 686 students and two previous samples suggested items were not identified cleanly with the a priori placements used in the original construction.
