An Analysis of Types of Errors in the Selection of Minority College Students
Goldman, Roy D.; Widawski, Mel H.
Journal of Educational Measurement, 13, 3, 185-200, F 76
The contemporary problem of culture-fair selection exists largely because currently used predictors provide only weak prediction of college success. The Scholastic Aptitude Test may add little to the validity of High School Grade Point Average as a predictor of Grade Point Average. When this occurs for ethnic minorities who score low on the SAT, it may be a considerable disservice to employ the SAT in the selection of college applicants from these groups. (Author/MV)
