Teleworking: How Understanding Its History Will Benefit Institutions Today
Waters, Kristin Albright
College and University, v97 n3 p65-70 Aug 2022
Teleworking has been utilized within the United States as a reactionary tool to the crises of the times. While it has gained in popularity, it is a topic that has been limited in exploration; there is not much understanding on the topic to date, and research available is limited. However, as institutions have found with the recent pandemic, teleworking has become an essential part of their working world, and can use this experience to become more proactive on teleworking, to study it and build policies and procedures for longterm use. By leveraging the Concept of Fit model at campuses, and implementing action steps for documenting the experience, institutions can better understand fit for employees of teleworking and use these findings to create teleworking policies. Anecdotal and collected findings should be shared within the field to establish a deeper understanding with the topic.
