ProQuest LLC, D.Phil. Dissertation, Columbia International University
Higher education in the 21st century is changing from the traditional residential program where the student sits in the classroom and is guided through their learning process to one that is online where the student receives their learning away from the classroom. The change from these traditional programs to online programs has increased the age demographics of the students. This study evaluates the andragogical adult-focused teaching strategies presented by M. S. Knowles that are used when creating the content for online courses in Christian Higher Education. The primary research question is: To what extent do course designers at Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) institutions utilize andragogical-based teaching strategies when creating online courses? This quantitative study examined the strategies used when creating online courses. Participants were asked to answer questions focused on the online course design strategies used when creating the content for online courses. Participants were chosen from the 120 ABHE-accredited institutions that provide online courses. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
