Reviews research on the characteristics of young adults with learning disabilities, discusses factors that are associated with the career maturity of young adults with learning disabilities, and offers suggestions to employment counselors that would be useful when working with this population. Invesstigated relationships between intrinsic and extrinsic work values and career maturity for ninth- and eleventh-grade boys (N=402) and girls (N=483). Results revealed that sex differences in work values and career maturity were found to a greater extent than were grade differences. Implications for counselors are discussed. (Author/NB)

While professional sports can be a rewarding career, school counselors should emphasize special considerations involved. These include grades, health, parental attitude, school location, and realistic probability. Students should consider other options, as well as sports, in making educational and career decisions.
