How Knowledge of Extenuating Circumstances Influences Community Reactions toward Suicide Victims and Their Bereaved Families.
Range, Lillian M.; Martin, Stephen K.
Omega: Journal of Death and Dying, v21 n3 p191-98 1990
Examined how circumstances of a suicide victim's life may influence people's responses in college students (n=180) who read a fictitious newspaper article about a man who committed suicide following psychological pain, physical pain, or terminal illness. Results indicated that subjects were intolerant of suicide when the victim was suffering from psychological pain. (Author/ABL)
