Elderly women volunteers were given a pretest battery of conservation tasks. Conservation scores were the highest yet recorded by elderly participants; consequently, training was not implemented. Results suggest that advanced chronological age does not guarantee poor conservation performance. (Author)

The literature reveals a marked decline in performance on the Visual Reproduction subtest with increasing age. Both level of education and intelligence seemed to exert a substantial influence on performance which may be significant in clinical evaluations. (Author)

Reviewed seven recent studies from three gerontological journals to examine academic performance, attitudes, and social relations in intergenerational college classes. Results confirmed the ability of older students to perform well in mixed classrooms and generally supported the concept of intergenerational classes. (JAC)

Researchers examined claims that those who follow a healthy lifestyle will live mostly free of disabling diseases and injuries up until the end of life. Results affirmed this theory with the strongest support coming from alive and deceased men. The authors also detected an inverse correlation between education level and degree of disability. (RJM)
