Enterprise Education: An Example of a Trapped Curriculum
Adrian Lyons
FORUM: for promoting 3-19 comprehensive education, v66 n2 p65-78 2024
The purpose of the school curriculum could be to prepare pupils for a satisfying and fulfilling life, to prepare pupils for the needs of the economy or to pass on the wisdom of society accumulated over time. In this article I use the example of enterprise education, including financial capability, to show how the current English schools' curriculum succeeds in none of these for too many young people. I draw on the wisdom of the 1980s to inform the present and the future.
