This annual report contains information on federal funding of research and development for fiscal years 1995, 1996, 1997. Data in the tables of this report were derived from the Survey of Federal Funds for Research and Development for Fiscal Years 1995, 1996, and 1997. They reflect research and development funding levels as reported by 33 federal agencies from May through August 1996. Research and development totals in these tables are given in both outlays and obligations. The research and development obligation data are further categorized according to character of work, performer, field of science or engineering, and Federal Research and Development funding by State. This report consists of three sections. The first section provides definitions of technical terms to the reader. The second section lists federally funded research and development centers by agency and type of administration. Section three contains statistical tables. Appended are agencies included in this survey (volumes 26 to 45). (ASK)
