Leadership in Honor Societies: The Effect of Title IX.
Earwood-Smith, Glenda
Journal of the National Association of Women Deans, Administrators, and Counselors, v48 n3 p13-21 Spr 1985
Single-sex honor societies changed membership requirements to admit members of both sexes in response to Title IX of the 1972 Education amendments. A 1982 study examining the effect of this transition on the sex make-up of members, officers, and faculty advisers revealed that women students were competing equally with men students for leadership positions.
