Yoo, Jeong-Ju; Peterson, Matthew; Heileson, Jeffrey L.; Funderburk, LesLee
Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences, v114 n2 p26-32 Sum 2022
The goal of the study was to identify the effect of a calorie-restricted diet combined with exercise on self-classified weight, body satisfaction, and quality of life enjoyment and satisfaction (Q-LES). Thirty-four participants reported data prior to and after a 12-week intervention program. The participants were women, with an average age of 51.53 years (ranging from 40-64 years old), with 50% being overweight and 50% obese. The intervention showed a positive effect on participants' self-classified weight, body satisfaction, and Q-LES. Calorie-restricted intake plus exercise should be a recommended lifestyle choice for this targeted group of women.
