Four diverse groups of women (members of the university women's caucus, a sample of undergraduates, a group of secretarial and clerical women, and a nonworking group) agreed on the prestige accorded to different occupations. Sixty-four kindergarten children were pretested for ability to conserve liquid quantity and on an original picture test of vocations, choosing a man, a woman, or both as suitable for particular jobs.
