Female undergraduates read a description of a situation involving a sexual assault and responded to a questionnaire. The degree of force and having no prior acquaintance with the assailant produced more willingness to report the assault. (Author)

Female rape victims, assault victims, and appropriately matched non-victimized controls completed a questionnaire at several time periods during a one-year interval. The questionnaires assessed the participants' perceptions of the effectiveness of the police, judiciary, and penal system in handling several types of crimes. (Author)

Studied psychological characteristics and other influencing factors of rape victims (N=77) who chose to prosecute their assailants. Results showed significant differences between women who prosecute and those who do not, i.e., prosecuters generally showed higher self-esteem and lower self-blame. (WAS)
