Twenty-seven self-identified female survivors of childhood sexual abuse completed measures designed to elicit symptoms and self-descriptions. Discrepancies in views of current self when compared to ideal or future selves were positively correlated with all symptom measures. Self integration was negatively correlated with symptoms. Examines relationships between acute stress disorder (ASD) symptoms and sexual abuse history, distress, and social support among sexual abuse survivors (N=32) seeking treatment. Results show that many met criteria for all ASD symptoms. Furthermore, ASD symptoms were significantly related to seeing the self as the causal locus of the abuse. (RJM)
