The regional conferences were sponsored by the Office of Urban Affairs of the American Council of Education. The major purpose of the conferences was to encourage and assist college and university administrators and faculty members to give systematic thought to the dimensions of their involvement in urban affairs during the 1970's, with emphasis on their participation in federally funded urban programs. This document reports the proceedings of each conference in relation to the theme and plan of the conference, interpretive summary of the conferences, opportunities for the urban involvement of colleges and universities, suggestions derived from the regional conferences, and problems and issues.
