López Martínez, Olivia; de Vicente-Yagüe Jara, María Isabel; Lorca Garrido, Antonio José – International Journal of Educational Psychology, 2023
From the perspective of positive psychology, the study and measurement of subjective well-being has popularized a growing interest towards variables such as affective perception. In an attempt to explain and evaluate the affective structure in positive terms (PA) and negative terms (NA), PANASN affect scale (Sandín, 2003) constitutes the version…

Helena Granziera; Rebecca J. Collie; Andrew J. Martin; Kate Caldecott-Davis – Educational Psychology, 2024
Adaptability (the capacity to respond to uncertainty, change, and novelty) and buoyancy (the ability to respond to everyday and low-level adversity) have emerged as personal attributes that appear to play an important role in students' adaptive responses in an academic setting. Ferreira, Vanessa M.; Sherman, Aurora M. – International Journal of Aging and Human Development, 2006
Control beliefs and social relationships have been individually assessed in relation to adaptation to chronic illness, although only rarely together. Further, some control scales show psychometric limitations in older adult samples. To address these concerns, a scale assessing external control was created by factor analyzing the items from…

Hoyt, Danny R.; Creech, James C. – Journal of Gerontology, 1983
Examined the Life Satisfaction Index A (LSIA) by factor analytic techniques. Although the results indicated a strong need for caution, there was evidence of an alternative interpretation of the LSIA that has a degree of consistency across racial and gender categories. These findings raise implicit questions about prior research. (Author/JAC)
