Science and Engineering Degrees, by Race/Ethnicity of Recipients: 1987-94. Detailed Statistical Tables.
Hill, Susan T.
This publication is based on data obtained by the National Center for Education Statistics, U.S. Department of Education, from all accredited institutions of higher education. Data cover earned degrees conferred in the aggregate United States. Degree data are compiled for a 12-month period, July of one year through June of the following year. In this report the racial and ethnic categories among U.S. citizens who received degrees during the 1987-94 period are charted and tabulated. Findings indicate that the number of bachelor's degrees in science and engineering (S&E) fields awarded to underrepresented minority students showed robust growth in the early 1990s after a period of relatively slow growth from 1985 to 1990.
