Regardless of parental attitudes and public opinion more black women in high school and college are taking a close look at the benefits and opportunities for career development offered by the Army and signing up. The lack of roles for African-American female police officers has not stopped black women from gaining momentum in law enforcement. Women still comprise less than 10 percent of all police officers, but growing numbers of black women are finding meaningful work in law enforcement. (SLD)
