How to Implement a New Search System and Make Friends While Doing It!
Powers, Michelle M.; Contreras, Rhonda
Journal of Library & Information Services In Distance Learning, v7 n1-2 p73-83 2013
What could bring more change to an online library than going from a federated to a discovery search system? Not much! This paper will share what was learned about initiating and implementing an important change that ultimately impacts a variety of stakeholders, and the importance of collaboration between library personnel at all levels of an organization. All involved in implementing change must learn from the process. The authors will discuss what went well, what important information was overlooked, and what new tools, techniques, and skills they acquired to assist with planning for future change. It is the objective of this paper to share valuable insights, as well as tools and tips when it comes to decision making, collaboration and change management.
