This set of information sheets on the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) is designed for use by persons responsible for instructing potential ERIC users and contributors. Adaptable for reproduction as overhead projection transparencies, the sheets are classified in two dimensions to provide for greater flexibility. The set of 50 sheets includes seven subsets, each on a different subject: 1) The "Thesaurus of ERIC Descriptors" (ERIC's "dictionary" for use in translating questions into ERIC terms and locating those terms and document titles in ERIC subject indexes)--10 sheets. 2) "Research in Education" (RIE, the monthly abstract journal of some documents as research reports, program descriptions, reviews, bibliographies, etc.)--15 sheets. 3) "Current Index to Journals in Education" (CIJE, a monthly index to over 500 periodicals)--9 sheets. 4) Special ERIC Indexes (in five different areas)--6 sheets. 5) Microfiche and Hard Copy (availability of documents)--2 sheets. 6) Contributing to ERIC (how to send documents)--5 sheets. 7) ERIC Clearinghouses (21 in different subject areas)--3 sheets. The sheets are also classified according to depth of treatment and are color coded for that purpose: 16 pink sheets for an overview of each subset; 29 blue sheets which may be added for more detail on each subject; and 5 yellow sheets for even greater detail on the Thesaurus and RIE subsets.
