This competency-based curriculum guide is designed to assist the teacher in the organization and management of the industrial arts program. It includes student performance objectives which detail the responsibilities of the teacher and the students. The competencies described in the document represent individual learning units in each of the following subject areas: automechanics, electronics, metals, residential planning, technical drawing, woods, and graphic arts. The authors suggest that these competency units described can be a basis in program evaluation which can assist in more effective planning and in maintaining an up-to-date educational evaluation of the progress of each student enrolled. In each area, the competencies are listed followed by the specification of the tasks involved. Each section also explains at what educational level the various competencies should be demonstrated and at what point students should be certified competent.
