A Principals' Perception of Purposeful Play as an Instructional Strategy in PreK Classrooms
Krista Lunz
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville
Purposeful play has many educational benefits that support the whole child. As academic rigor continues to rise, the need for developmentally appropriate practices that support both academic and social emotional learning increases. The purpose of this quantitative study was to understand principals' perceptions of the incorporation of purposeful play as an instructional strategy within PreK classrooms. By researching principals' perceptions about purposeful play, we can better understand their viewpoints on their own knowledge, implementation practices, and perceived value of purposeful play as an instructional strategy.
