A Correlational Study of Influence of Leadership Dimensions on Employee Job Satisfaction
Shahida Naz. Balaparya
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Grand Canyon University
The objective of this quantitative predictive correlational study was to ascertain whether and to what degree leadership dimensions (transformational, transactional, and passive leadership) of the cardiovascular leadership, as assessed through the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) Rater form, can predict employee job satisfaction within the New England region of the United States. The theory of path-goal leadership theoretically framed this study. Two research questions addressed if and to what extent leadership dimensions together predict employee job satisfaction and if and to what extent leadership dimensions individually predict employee job satisfaction when holding the other predictors constant. The researcher collected data from 83 cardiovascular professionals from the New England region of the United States using a Mind Garden survey with a targeted audience feature. A multiple linear regression model was used to analyze the data. Overall, multiple linear regression model that included various dimensions of leadership successfully predicted job satisfaction. The results of the F test were highly significant, with F (3, 79) = 22.42, p < 0.001, and an R2 = 0.460, indicating that the combined effects of transformational, transactional, and passive avoidant leadership significantly predicted job satisfaction. This study suggests the vast practical implication at the present time and in future for the cardiovascular leaders and for the organization prior to hiring for a leadership role.
