Murphy, Nora A.; Hall, Judith A. – Intelligence, 2011
A meta-analytic review investigated the association between general intelligence and interpersonal sensitivity. The review involved 38 independent samples with 2988 total participants. There was a highly significant small-to-medium effect for intelligence measures to be correlated with decoding accuracy (r=0.19, p less than 0.001). Significant…

Individual differences in general mental ability ("g") have important implications across multiple disciplines. Research suggests that the variance in "g" may be due to a general fitness factor. If this is the case, a relationship should exist between "g" and other reliable indicators of fitness. Some empirical results indicate a relationship…

McDaniel, Michael A. – Intelligence, 2005
The relationship between brain volume and intelligence has been a topic of a scientific debate since at least the 1830s. To address the debate, a meta-analysis of the relationship between in vivo brain volume and intelligence was conducted. Based on 37 samples across 1530 people, the population correlation was estimated at 0.33. The correlation is…

IQ scores provide the best general predictor of success in education, job training, and work. However, there are many ways in which IQ scores can be increased, for instance by means of retesting or participation in learning potential training programs. What is the nature of these score gains? Jensen [Jensen, A. R. (1998a). "The g factor: The…

Mukunda, Kamala V.; Hall, Vernon C. – Intelligence, 1992
Meta-analysis of 225 hypothesis tests of measures of memory for order (MFO) and the relationship of MFO and measures of general ability demonstrate a significant relationship between MFO and standardized test scores. Fifty-one independent samples were tested. MFO task quality was a significant predictor of effect size. (SLD)
