Guidelines to Support Professional Copyright Practice
Dryden, Jean
Journal of Archival Organization, v10 n2 p150-154 2012
Copyright is extremely complex, and it is difficult to convey its complexities in a clear and concise form. Through decades of experience, archivists developed informal best practices for dealing with copyright in the analog world; however the application of copyright in the digital environment is evolving in response to rapidly changing technology, and to a growing body of case law as courts interpret the many areas of uncertainty. This article looks at five "standards" or guidelines that archival repositories may find useful as they deal with the thorny matter of copyright. (Contains 11 notes.)
