Sample Course of Study for Distributive Education. Warehousing (Taxonomy 04.3100).
McKnight, Molly G.
Presented as an example of how a course of study can be prepared for a distributive education program, this booklet describes the content and development of a course in warehousing at Southwestern City Schools (Galloway, Ohio). The course of study is based on the students' present jobs and occupational expectations using the IDECC System (Interstate Distributive Education Curriculum Consortium) and materials as the foundation. Introductory material includes a brief description of the district and its school and on-the-job training facilities, program philosophy and objectives, and brief description of IDECC. Major contents consist of a description of the course development process: process of identifying occupational goals with students, development of the course outline, development of the course of study using the card file and a computer printout, development of the individual student's course of study through use of the Student Competency Record and its development as a training plan, scheduling the common and individual competencies to be accomplished during the year in class and on the job by use of teacher calendars and student calendars, and evaluation procedures by both coordinator and employer. The course content outline (keyed to specific objectives and competencies) and instructional schedule are included. (JT)
