The Title I Great Cities Training Programs were desiqned to provide school paraprofessional personnel in Detroit, Michigan, with the knowledge, skills and techniques that will lead to higher levels of achievement among the Title I target student population. This evaluation report provides a description of program structure, training curricula, and results for the 1979-80 school year. Participants' pre- and post-test scores are shown for different phases of the training schedule and in different subject areas. Scores for ninth grade students serviced by teacher aides who participated in the training program are also presented. Appended to the report are an observation report on program participants in the classroom, evaluations of the summer 1980 teacher/teacher aide training workshop, and a sample monitoring instrument and trainee questionnaire.
