Munford, Paul R.; Munoz, Alejandra – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1980
Administered the WISC and the WISC-R in a counterbalanced design to 20 Hispanic children. Revealed the WISC-R to be as culturally biased as the WISC and that more Hispanic children may be labeled as mentally deficient. Suggested that verbal IQ reflects the extent of acculturation, while Performance IQ reflects actual ability. (Author)
Descriptors: Children, Comparative Analysis, Hispanic Americans, Intelligence Tests

Dodrill, Carl B. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1981
Evaluated the ability of the Wonderlic Personnel Test to replicate the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) with (N=120) normal persons divided into principal and cross-validation groups. Correlations between the Wonderlic IQs and the WAIS Full Scale IQs were .93 for the main group and .91 for the cross-validation group. (Author)

Mathewson, Peter D. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1977
Navy enlisted personnel (N=60) were administered the Recall scale of the Kahn Intelligence Test (Experimental Form; KIT) and the Digit Span subtest of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS). Scores for the KIT tasks indicate a significant transfer of data to long-term memory. (Author)

Ryan, Joseph J.; And Others – Assessment, 1994
The retest stability of four Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised (WAIS-R) short forms (Kaufman, Ishikuma, and Kaufman-Packer; Reynolds, Wilson and Clark; Silverstein; Ward) was investigated with 61 subjects aged 75 to 87 years. Short form stability in each instance was comparable to that of the standard WAIS-R. (SLD)

Slate, John R.; Fawcett, Julianna – American Annals of the Deaf, 1995
This study, involving 47 deaf and hard-of-hearing school-age children, found that the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Third Edition Performance scale was highly related to the WISC-Revised Performance scale and moderately related to the Wide Range Achievement Test-Revised subscales. Performance IQs of students who communicated orally or…

Stone, Brian J. – Journal of School Psychology, 1992
Investigated joint factor structure of Differential Abilities Scale and Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised for 115 children. Compared theoretically supportable models (Spearman's General factor; Wechsler's Verbal, Performance, and Freedom from Distractibility factors; Elliott's verbal, nonverbal, spatial, and diagnostic perspective)…

Bowers, Timothy L.; Pantle, Mark L. – Assessment, 1998
The comparability of two adult intelligence tests, the Shipley Institute for Living Scale (SILS) (W. Shipley, 1940) and the Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test (A. Kaufman and N. Kaufman, 1990) were studied with 30 college students and 50 adults from forensic settings. Findings show that better-educated and more-relaxed clients may prefer the SILS.…

Hamm, Harry; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1976
The study compared differences and similarities between WISC and WISC-R scores for 48 ten- and thirteen-year-old educable mentally retarded students, who were matched according to sex and race. Results suggest that many children classified as "Borderline" or slightly above the WISC will be classified as "Mentally Deficient" by…

Cook, Thomas H.; Solway, Kenneth S. – Psychological Reports, 1974
A study of WISC subtest patterning among retardates also declared delinquent indicates a considerable degree of similarity in WISC performance between delinquent and non-delinquent retardates. (Author/KM)

Apple, Dennis; And Others – 1983
This study attempts to respond to the suggestions of Stewart and Jones and the criticisms of Sattler and Buckhalt by assessing the precision of the Slosson Intelligence Test (SIT) in predicting Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) scores with a population of restricted range (gifted children), and examining the consistency of…

Vance, Hubert; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1978
This study compared the WISC-R and PPVT scores for a group of 65 students classified as mentally retarded, ranging in age from 7.5 to 14.5. For this sample of mildly retarded children and youth, the PPVT IQ score is significantly higher than the Full Scale IQ from the WISC-R. (Author)

Feingold, Alan – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
It was predicted that there would be variable IQ discrepancies at different ages because of differential age adjustments on the norms of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) and the WAIS-Revised (WAIS-R). The use of equivalent WAIS and WAIS-R sums of scaled scores demonstrated the predicted variable discrepancies. (Author/BW)
Descriptors: Adults, Age Differences, Comparative Analysis, Equated Scores

Kaufman, Alan S.; Kaufman, Nadeen L. – Child Development, 1972
Results offer empirical support to Ilg and Ames's claim that the Gesell battery is an excellent predictor of school readiness. The close similarity of the Piaget and Gesell tests accords well with previous findings that the two tests have much in common. (Authors/MB)
