The purpose of the present study was to determine if a difference in death anxiety exists between people who engage in a risk-taking activity and people who do not. Motorcycle riding was chosen as a risk-taking activity. A significantly lower Death Anxiety Scale score was obtained from the motorcycle group. (Author)

Primarily middle-class women (N=212) were classified as "still working,""retired," or "housewives most of their lives" according to self-report. Analysis showed women who have worked much of their lives are not at a disadvantage relative to those who have not in terms of number of social resources at their disposal. (Author)

Concurrent validity of the Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory (SCII) and predictive validity of the Strong Vocational Interest Blank (SVIB) were studied in an 18-year follow-up of a university counseling center group of male college graduate subjects. Cross-sex equalization of vocational interests in the college population was tested by comparing 150 female and 150 male college counselees with the "women in general" and "men in general" samples of the Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory. Covin, Theron M. – Psychology in the Schools, 1977
The validity of the SIT was investigated with 50 public school children in Grades 1 through 4; the WISC-R served as the congruent validating criterion. The SIT correlated significantly with the WISC-R and overestimated the WISC-R IQs. Statistical data for sexual and racial stratifications were also given. (Author)

Interviews with seven of 10 known survivors of jumps from the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge revealed all experienced transcendence and spiritual rebirth phenomena. This study provides estimates for the Nye and Berardo model of the effect of age at marriage on socioeconomic attainments. The major findings are that marital timing has neither a total effect on educational and occupational attainments, nor does it mediate the total effects of family socioeconomic statuses. (Author)

This is the third survey undertaken to assess changes in knowledge and attitudes concerning drugs among students from Georgia high schools. Results revealed 56 percent of the students possessed knowledge of the drug culture and 3 percent had tried hard drugs, with none being regular users. (Author)

This paper, presented at the Gerontological Society meeting, October 1975, Louisville, examines the hypothesis that attitudinal differences between age groups will vary by type of community. Comparisons are made of 24 attitude scale scores by 224 young-old persons and 42 old-old persons. More differences were found in the urban groups. (Author)
