Wilson, DaNita Roshaun
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Dallas Baptist University
The current study addressed questions regarding socially responsible leadership and leader self-efficacy for Black female undergraduates pursuing leadership. The purpose was to determine if a difference in Socially Responsible Leadership exists between two groups of Black female undergraduates attending different types of higher education institutions: Historically Black Colleges and Universities or Primarily White Institutions. An additional variable between the two groups was whether membership in a Black Greek organization made a difference as an influencer of socially responsible leadership development. The target population was self-identifying Black female undergraduates, at least 18 years old. Participants were recruited from social media. The current study concluded with 180 participants. A Statistical difference in Commitment was found when comparing students and the type of institution they attended. When comparing students who were members of a Black Greek Organization and those who were not, there were statistical differences found in seven of the eight values of Socially Responsible Leadership. A relationship between leader self-efficacy and seven of the eight values of Socially Responsible Leadership was also statistically significant.
