Use of the Inventory of Feminine Values" with a group of college women indicated that they were prepared to sacrifice a career for a family. Apparently, attitudes held by fathers of young women influence their attitudes toward working wives. Counselors must help young women plan early for problems to be faced working and raising a family. As part of a course in professional issues, RN students who were enrolled in a baccalaureate nursing program examined and described the intellectual and emotional strains of their transition to the BS program. The experience helped clarify their professional identity and provided them with the tools to cope with future change and transition. (SK)
