Edgell, Stephen E.; Castellan, N. John, Jr. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
In a nonmetric multiple-cue probability learning task involving 2 binary cue dimensions, it was found that Ss can learn to use configural or pattern information (a) when only the configural information is relevant, and in addition to the configural information, one or both of the cue dimensions are relevant. (Author/RK)

Klapp, Stuart T.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
When Ss read single words or 2-digit numbers aloud, the latency from stimulus onset until the beginning of overt vocalization increases as the number of syllables to be pronounced is increased. Two interpretations of this reading pronounciation latency effect are considered. (Author)

Parkinson, Stanley R.; Hubbard, Lora L. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1974
in the present dichotic memory research, the addition of either a monaural stimulus suffix on the unattended ear or a binaural suffix was shown to selectively impair unattended-ear performance. (Editor)

Miller, Arden – Teaching of Psychology, 1981
Psychology departments in U.S., Canadian, English, and Irish universities were asked to describe their practices concerning student participation as subjects in experiments. Experimental participation as a requirement, with other options to fulfill that requirement, has become the most popular form of subject pool. The educational value is…

Horowitz, Leonard M.; Manelis, Leon – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
These experiments contrasted recognition with cued recall. It was learned that cued recall was consistently better for idioms than for phrases. (Author/RK)

Checkosky, Stephen F.; Whitlock, Dean – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
The general purpose of the present experiment was to investigate sources of the effect of pattern goodness on human performance. (Author)
Descriptors: Analysis of Variance, College Students, Diagrams, Experimental Psychology
Massaro, Dominic W. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1974
The primary purpose of this study was to determine the size of the sound stimulus employed in the first stage of speech recognition. (Author)

Gotz, Axel; Jacoby, Larry L. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1974
Retention effects of retrieval practice and of predictability of recall delay were investigated in 2 experiments. (Editor)

Ellis, Henry C.; And Others – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1974
Two experiments examined the role of meaningfulness (m), perceptual grouping, and organizational factors in recognition memory of consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) trigram stimuli. (Editor)

Dewing, Kathleen; Hetherington, Paul – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1974
The aim of the present study was to extend the findings relating to the role of imagery in verbal learning and retrieval to the solution of anagrams. (Author)

Romano, John L.; Cabianca, William A. – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1978
Biofeedback training to reduce test anxiety among university students was investigated. Biofeedback training with systematic desensitization was compared to an automated systematic desensitization program not using EMG feedback. Biofeedback training is a useful technique for reducing test anxiety, but not necessarily more effective than systematic…

Ingalls, Robert P. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1974
The purpose of the present experiments is to investigate the question of whether the physical match subsystem necessarily precedes the naming process. (Author)

McCauley, Charley – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1974
In the present study, an attempt was made to determine whether temporal patterning and speach processes comparable to those obtained with categorized materials are involved in the recall of higher order units formed intraexperimentally. (Author)

Tell, Phillip M.; Ferguson, Alexander M. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1974
The present study was designed to provide a finer analysis of the effects of active and passive vocalization vs. silent visual presentation on recall at various retention intervals through the use of the distractor technique. (Author)
