Incorporating Positive Psychology into the Post-Secondary Classroom
Beverley Myatt; Lynne N. Kennette
Journal of Effective Teaching in Higher Education, v6 n2 p69-88 2023
The principles of positive psychology have been studied for many years, but it seems to be only recently that the benefits of these techniques are being accepted by the wider community of mainstream educators. In this article, we first describe the principles of positive psychology, primarily through the work of Martin Seligman. Then we highlight the many benefits that implementing positive psychology in the classroom has for both students and faculty. Finally, we discuss strategies and tips for implementation within the higher education classroom, both in-person and online, with concrete examples that instructors can use in their classrooms right away.
