A narrative inquiry study is chosen because this is an investigation of school teachers' experiences expressed in a narrative form. The problem explored in this study is that school teachers struggle to meet the behavioral needs of students with exceptionalities in the mainstream classroom. Variation sampling is chosen because it allowed for documentation of the variation in the narratives of school teachers to find out if themes were present. There is a deeper understanding of adolescent behavior connected to the study from the foundation of a theoretical framework. The research questions pertain to what disciplinary strategy viewpoints school teachers have that address behavioral infractions and how these strategies are explained. With a questionnaire, 10 school teachers were chosen as interview participants in a sample population from a private Facebook group. This study utilized individual interviews and a focus group interview aligned with a coding procedure to analyze transcripts to look for themes. Three subthemes developed under the theme of effectiveness disciplinary strategy viewpoint including special education mentors created a sense of connectedness and approachableness. Four subthemes developed from the theme ineffective disciplinary strategy viewpoint which included yelling/calling out, threatening to call home, taking away cell phones, and degrading. Recommendations for future research include focusing on school teacher participants who live in other areas of the United States, such as rural and northern areas. Additionally, future investigations include recruiting participants face-to-face where the individuals can verbally communicate to share their teaching experiences, and focusing on participants with different cultural backgrounds that may be connected to previous research studies.
