This study investigated comodulation masking release (CMR) in 42 children (ages 5 to 10) with a history of otitis media with effusion (OME) and 19 control children with no history of ear disease. Results indicated that monotic CMRs were reduced in children with hearing loss due to OME and these CMRs remained abnormally small for several months. (Author/DB)
