Whitbeck, Les B.; Simons, Ronald L. – Youth and Society, 1990
Examines the victimization of runaways using a sample of 84 adolescents in a midwestern city of about 250,000 people. Finds that these youth, like runaways in larger cities, are doubly victimized by abusive family situations and by life on the streets. Sex differences in the processes that influence victimization are discussed. (FMW)

Straus, Murray A.; Donnelly, Denise A. – Youth and Society, 1993
Studies use of corporal punishment of adolescents by parents among 6,002 U.S. couples (National Family Violence Resurvey). Results for prevalence and chronicity show that half or more adolescents are hit by their parents and that this can occur frequently. Unfortunately, such events are not necessarily thought of as assaults. (SLD)
